Second Life goes Open Source

They did it. Second life has just gone open source. What.
An interesting turn in the copybot saga to say the least.
Possibly the first time a hacker/griefer has helped catalyzed the public release of corporate source code in the MMO industry. Is this rewarding the behavior? Is this going to solve the problem? I dunno, but you gotta hand it to them, Linden knows how to kick the Buzz Bouncer in the Billy.

Now they’re touting themselves as instantly the largest open-source project in the world.
Good grief(er).
