Zug has had a tradition - nay a ritual - of beginning every hotel-stay-period related to a convention or conference with the placement of his own unique gargoyle by the entranceway of the room in question - usually affixed to a mirror using specially designed hotel-mirror-optimized suction cups. This gargoyle has, as far as I am aware, always taken the form of Pikachu the destroyer (”Raaaaaaayyyyy….”) with proper SARS protection befitting such a heavy responsibility. This year we also had pokeballs with flying pikachus and even a full sized live-in Mudkip (yes you heard correctly that we like them).
I’m really sad about this, but not really… I’ve got enough on my plate.. so much I’ve actually been dreading this game coming out (right in the middle of Con season) - because I will want to play it too much. Thank you Atlus… quality and spacing out my life: next time give me more warning though… I was already shuffling my feet at my desk.
A friend of mine found this great article on MSN about Chiptune and “Overstimulated Sense” artwork (Pokemon Seizure Funtime). The video has a good beat and you can dance to it. The second picture in the article looks a bit like Atma Weapon from FFVI don’t you think? Also, page 6: “The GIF Show” - best idea for a gallery ever.
Conventions on the brain. We’re deep in the trenches of ‘convention high season,’ having just been to Anime Expo, getting buzzed by E3, and now waiting for Comicon and Blizzcon. We give a bit of an E3 wrap up, going through some of the things that jumped out at us since last show, as well as a few stories and experiences from past Anime Expos. We discuss conventions in general, and then ponder about Anime licensing and the business models. Lastly, we take five and flex our game development muscles, and come up with some ideas for a game based around Conventions.
Anywho, I’m slow on the uptake lately. I’ve removed many communities from my friends list on LJ, I’ve stopped going to /b/.
Why?
Because HARRY POTTER is coming out in a few days and I’m fighting to not encounter any spoilers. So far I think I’ve only run into one small one, but I don’t want to ruin stuff for myself.
ZOMG HARRY POTTER MANIA. We’ll talk about how this series has shaped the world we see today.
I’ve started playing FFVIII again. Why am I feeling so nostalgic lately? Could this be considered old school? Will Square-Enix jump on the FFVIII bandwagon next?
Also, Square is jumping from console to console. Is this some plot to get hardcore fans to purchase multiple systems? Those sneaky bastards. We’ll talk about that too.
Got some awesome music too. And I’ll probably babble a bit as well. I’m not on my own network, so if there are any differences, I blame my Latino neighbors who don’t know how to secure their wireless. EL OH EL.
A quick news rundown of the week. Games Based On Movies: IMDB has a category that you can check out and stay abreast. Jack Thompson is (finally) getting sued. Exclamation Warriors lets you yell at your DS while you play a River City Ransom-like game. Multiboxing in MMOs for fun and profit: play your favorite MMO on 5 or more computers. Also, E3 IS HERE! We’re not there, because it’s invitation-only and we’re not invited. But we’ll tell you about it anyway! Lastly but not leastly, this weekend we went to the most amazing RPG-Themed birthday ever, and we’ll tell you about it.
What may seem like an excessive practice, multiboxing is getting more popular.
The art of playing multiple accounts at the same time. For example - a cleric and a warrior - both controlled by you. Heals that land when you need them. Double the power but double the demands on your already stretched attention. This is a community of people who control two, three, four, five, even ten or more characters at the same time.
The cost of setup is too steep for my blood, but given everything, I would love to give it a shot.
