This week on EndgameRadio Prime, we went over over the highlights of the Tokyo Game Show: including our favorites and weeaboo opinions. Of course, obligatory opinion on Halo 3 release and Haloism in general - TF2 juxtaposition for the times we live in, and a little bit about annoying storytelling. Lots of sailor Scouts in the chat tonight, also, weilding metal baseball bats and stealing intelligence.

Another 3 years, another Resident Evil film. Resident Evil: Extinction sucked the big one in my opinion but here is not the place to plug in a full-on rant about it. Plus, we didn’t have high expectations for this film anyway, did we?

Music to your likings. (I know you read that as “vikings”)

Tonight on EndgameRadio Prime we give our first impressions of Team Fortress 2. So much fun, so much polish. Thank you for taking the time to finish it and not just pooping it out! We also give some metaopinions about such metaconcepts as Metaplace, a new and strange way of making an MMO, and metanomics! Study economics in virtual worlds! META! The chatroom was bumpin for this show, so if you missed it, make sure to come and play with us next week

This weekend it was time for our bi-yearly pilgrimage to Claremont to dig up and dust off our gaming roots. The Southern California Classic Collectors got together once again to bring out the best of the best from classic gaming history.

This visit offered a few more cabinets, in addition to an xbox with emulators being hooked up and projected onto a big screen.

The usual fare of games was there, with a few more additions in terms of gaming cabinets and a computer projected on a screen in the back. There was much more Wii-playing, as people enjoyed Wii sports and other games. We also caught a glimpses of a Japanese jun-ken-pow/ro-sham-bo hentai game, where winning a round of rock paper scissors meant your attractive host takes off another article of her clothing… wooo hoo.

The big projector in the back was playing a showing of “SC3 TV,” which was a montage of retro-gaming themed shows, specials, and commercials from back in the day.

While we were there, we got a chance to interview some of the founders and collaborators of the event, We also chatted with as Rob from Coin-op.tv, who coincidentally interviewed our friend Rog over at i-mockery.com. It’s a small world!. These events are set to happen at least twice a year, and don’t worry; we’ll sound the alarms when it happens again so we can hook up for more old school gaming.

EVE Updates

I have begun to follow EVE Online much closer now that I have delved into it personally. In pure internet synchronicity, the news temperature surrounding the game has spiked in recent weeks.

First, September 3 housed their highest peak user count record to date. While 35,000 doesn’t seem like a lot of users in the post-WoW newsworld, when put in context the achievement is actually substantial. World of Warcraft has millions of players split into sharded servers of smaller population. The average US WoW Server has about 20,000 accounts (not all online at once - probably only a few thousand online at once during peak). Under this light 35,000 sharing one world and economy is an impressive endeavour (and no record breaking is possible without a little database record scratch sound effect).

In other news, the first report from CCP’s own in-house economist was posted. It contains the kind of qualitative analysis that makes my mouth water and makes drool come out of my eyes (er.. I think the other way around). Look for more awesome totally SFW graphs and charts soon.

Lastly, Shacknews released the second part of their ongoing series on EVE - primarily covering the GoonSwarm alliance and the drone bay worth of political intrigue swarming their frothy hull. This story covers the rocky formation of the alliance and some amazing PVP tactics.

It’s a good time to be a pilot. If you want to hop in for 14 days via the buddy program, just let me know, I can hook you up and show you around (read: I’m actually really a n00b but I think I’m hot shit).
