I just completed watching Robocop: Prime Directives. Tune in tonight because I want you to. I can’t guarantee I’ll have this in depth conversation about how gaming will change the world. But I can always play some tunes to keep your head bobbing. It’ll be fun and I’ll talk with you.

Stanford gets a collection of 25,000 games: If only this kind of focus on archiving and preservation were around during the creation of the motion picture most of the originals might be in a similar archive. But what about non commercial games? There are some groups working on archiving architectural spaces (levels and such) of game worlds from old to new, and some others who work on a particular game lineage (rogue-like games for example), but I’m sure there are some old MUDs forever lost to humanity if no one speaks up about them.
Machinima School: I can’t wait until the throngs of amateur machinima-based theses (plural thesis for those who think that’s a typo) and school dramas with bad unreal models or warcraft characters dancing to the tune of really bad music. Oh, wait… If anything this is probably a good introduction, especially as a medium of expansion for the oh-so-awesome Experimental Animation degree.

I saw Grindhouse, it was worth my single monies for double movies. I dreamt the movie “1408″ a couple weeks ago and have never heard of it, EVER. MindFUNKED for sure. Still creeped out by it. Tonight I’m keeping it real and kicking back ready to converse with y’all during the show.

Tonight we’re gonna talk about Pen’s new job and how she’s quitting her current one. Saw the movie 300 last night and we’ll give an epic review.

Greetings and salutations. I’m going to get it out in the air that WiYGN is going to be on hold for a short while. This is by no means the end of the show. I have a few other goals and projects (mostly getting my hunter to 70 and replacing a T2 piece or two) that I wanted to tackle. I’ll make it up by adding in original pieces to the front page of the site on a semi regular basis. I’ll be broadcasting again soon enough with the power of 300 spartans behind me, but until then, see you on the flip side.

I’ve seen these around as well, and wondered; they looked incredibly shadey. Turns out, they are for real, and have some pretty significant backing.

Tonight’s show has hit a couple of roadblocks in the names of “Phoenix Wright: Justice For All”, and “Hotel Dusk: Room 215″. I swear that next week will be back to scheduled goodness though, so I’ll see you then.

Teachers are using Neverwinter Nights in what seems to be a similar way that the Oregon Trail was used, and scores are tripling.
Raph’s Website » Using NWN for basic learning skills
I think this is the fundamental error many educators make — they think that everyone finds learning for learning’s sake to be engaging. The article notes that the kids had chosen to blow off basic literacy and numeracy skills because they didn’t see them as directly applicable to their main goal — kind of like I have rarely needed to use the quadratic equation in my daily life. This is exemplified by the classic word problem they give you in math class: who gives a damn when exactly two cars driving opposite directions will cross paths on the highway? Why would one care?
It’s funny to hear this, because HOW MANY TIMES DID WE SAY THIS AS KIDS GROWING UP? Who gives a flying crap how fast trains are going? Now, if they can only figure out a better way to teach Social Studies instead of having to memorize names and dates. One thing is for sure: Reading Raph’s book has made his blog not only more digestible, but also delicious.

When we were at PAX this past year, we got stopped by a few professional-looking people with a clipboard and camera and were asked if “[we wanted] to say cool stuff about MC Frontalot.” I respectfully declined, but what they were doing seemed cool. It’s turning out well, I’d like to see it.
