I begged my dad for weeks to get Sim City for the SNES. This just boggles my mind that I can now play a cool version of it on the DS. KIDS THESE DAYS.

Excitement! Another narrative DS game. This one takes place in and around a hotel, and you’re investigating something. Snazzy Flash site, too.

Two new games come out this week: WarioWare: Smooth Moves for Wii and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice For All for DS, which GameRankings gives 80% and 79% respectively. My birthday is this weekend so I will definitely pick up Smooth Moves before then for some ass-shaking good times.
Also coming on the heels of this good news is the commercial for Kaitou Wario the Seven (AKA Wario: Master of Disguise) the new Wario game for DS that has you changing outfits to solve puzzles.

Ok, I’m not a big fan of Maple Story. Nor do I believe that this will be an MMO on the DS (though it is technically quite feasible and am somewhat suprised no one has tried it yet). It may never even make it to the States. But none of that matters. This commercial is fucking hot.
This is the best ’sailor moon’ marketing (marketing to girls and by way of skirts - boys too at the same time) I have seen in a while.
Unrelated, because I love adding the “Ideas” category to posts:
Someone should make Maple Leaf Story… it’d be like Maple Story, only with CANADIANS.

This is some mighty impressive OBJECTION we have here. As Phoenix Wright has proven, there is a (niche at least) market for linear games with great writing. Add in some puzzle mini games, exploration some great artwork and I think we have a future hit on our hands.

More and more Flash games are being picked up in various ways by Big Gaming and are being released as, dare I say it, real games. The first one I noticed was Elf Bowling, and wasn’t too impressed. But recently, a few more have popped up. The classic Line Rider is now going to get play on the DS and Wii, as well as fl0w getting a really impressive looking port on the PSP. Man, I have to get into this Flash thing. Oh, wait.

The new Transformers clip is up, and I’m not sure how I feel about it just yet. I’ll let you watch it before I spoil anything. I love Bay movies because they are epic and huge and Hollywood and exploady and delicious but this is dealing with some touchy subject matter: giant robots that transform into cars. Judge for yourself.
