PAX Overload! We come back still buzzed from an awesome time at PAX 2007 and talk about our experiences - what we saw, what we did, what we drank. We’re also far more pumped about EVE Online now are looking to set up some EGR pwning action in that game.

This just peaked my internetometer. I would say my firefox just got a hardon but … well, that would be just wrong.

Was reading through a great article on Gamasutra entitled: SingStar’s Bozek On ‘Unbundling’ Games. On one side it’s great because it covers user-generated-content, microtransactions, and karaoke: three things I’m very interested in. But the real reason is this paragraph:

Using the feature, SingStar players will be able to capture and upload pictures and videos of themselves singing — something, Bozek said, the team was inspired to do after witnessing the sudden stardom of Gary Brolsma when his ‘Numa Numa’ performance was spread through Newgrounds and YouTube.

Nothing ‘new’ (we talked a lot about SingShot a while back) - but the fact game developers were inspired towards a more inclusive design by Gary Brolsma and the internet… makes me feel really warm and fuzzy.

Go Internetto! Fight Internetto! We’re ‘improving’ videogames!

In EGM this month Jack tretton claims in early january 2007 that PS3 are impossible to come by. During this time they were in stock in a few places. He put a bounty for $1200 if they could find any consoles.

As it stands. The Wii is still very difficult to find. I work in a retail store that also sells videogames (360-ps3-wii) and they just dissapear off the shelves. I have heard reports of people still scalping wii’s them on ebay.
Wii system search on ebay

Obviously its been 2 months since chrismas and the price is STILL inflated to 50-100$ over the origional value. I don’t think i’ve ever seen such a huge response to a gaming consoles. The ds lite still fly of shelves as well.
Idiot jack

The penny arcade people (bless their souls) did a rare saturday comic rebutting this very redicilous argument.

Pa comic

In ending Ps3 doesn’t look like it will see a price drop anytime soon. I can only say that means certain doom for the ps3 unless things change suddenly.
Jack says No to PS3 price drop

Jack, you really do need to stop doing these interviews. Your making yourself look like an idiot.

Whoops… too late.

PlayStation 3 Supply Surpasses Demand

Look at all those boxes. It’s not really a surprise, and it’s almost sad. I know two people first-hand who got a PS3 or two with the express purpose of reselling for some cash, and of course it didn’t work. The rest will be history.

Sony Sixaxis bags an Emmy

Yeah, I know you’re probably thinking “Uh, Nintendo?”, but you gotta remember one thing. The Emmys have given more awards to Frasier than any other show. I’m not gonna take offense to this, as it’s just another entry into the annals of the Emmy Award Hall of Lame.

Oizys and I did some INVESTIGATIVE INTERNET JOURNALISM and dug up the launch titles for both PS2 and PS3 to compare. Here you can see what the PS2 had to offer in it’s launch:
IGN: The PS2 Launch Titles

And here’s the list of PS3 launch titles:
PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) Launch Titles: Psyche

Oh, wait, that list isn’t right, but this one is. SILLY INTERNET.
Sony’s Official (PlayStation 3) PS3 Launch Titles: Real

oizys: worthwhile PS2 launch titles: DOA2, Armored Core 2, Summoner, SSX, Kessen, Fantavision (maybe, but only at bargain bin later)
oizys: oh and I heard Ready 2 Rumble Boxing was good
oizys: otherwise, yay, bad racing and sports games galore
oizys: now we have bad racing, sports and FPS games for PS3 instead

Wii Sells 3 Million

In one months time, the Wii has sold 40% the number of consoles that the Xbox 360 took a year to sell. Oh yeah, PS3 might have sold a few consoles as well (one third of what the Wii sold.) The numbers are from VGCharts.org, which of course is “unofficial and in some cases incomplete“, but they are a DOT ORG so I BELIEVE.
